JOB-SEARCH GUIDES

How to find remote jobs

“Remote” can mean very different things: work from any country, work from home within one country, periodic office attendance or a hybrid model. Clarifying these details prevents incompatible applications.

1. Separate remote, hybrid and home-based work

Read the required office frequency carefully. A vacancy can use the word remote while still requiring residence in a specific area, occasional office days or regular travel.

2. Check where you can legally be employed

Tax, employment law, payroll and company policy can limit the countries from which staff may work. State where you live and where you have the right to work.

3. Show operational autonomy

Written communication, prioritisation, reliability, documentation and confident use of collaboration tools are especially important for remote roles.

4. Evaluate tools and working conditions

Ask how hardware, connectivity, security, working hours, time zones, expenses and office attendance are handled. These details determine the real quality of remote work.

5. Watch for scam signals

Be cautious about paying to be hired, mandatory purchases from a named vendor, communication only through anonymous chat, or unusually high offers without a verifiable selection process.

6. Tailor the CV and interview

Highlight results achieved independently, distributed teamwork, tools used and the routines you use to stay visible and reliable without constant supervision.
